Don't buy a tote with less capacity than the tank you are dumping unless you are real quick on shutting off the valve.
Some have level indicators that pop up. They do give an early warning but don't be staring at the neighbors wife while the tank is draining. Yours might knock you out and then you got a real mess on your hands. :)
If you are just using it for the grey tank then small will be OK. I use the adapter for a hose fitting . I have a small 12" section. I can see the tank fill up and turn off the valve before it overflows.
I'm in the large tote camp I had a 32 gallon? and upgraded to a 42 gallon.
I prefer the large tank. I trip vs. 4 trips. The decision is easy for me. I agree the large tank is heavier but I am still capable of moving it to the truck.
I want to empty my 40 gallon tank in 1 trip if possible.
Lately I have been closing the valve at the end of the discharge pipe and opening both black and grey tanks and letting them equalize. You can gain 10 to 15 gallons of capacity that way by taking advantage of the extra capacity available in the black tank.
