I think we are all on the same page. We are really debating semantics.
Most RV's are self contained if they have a battery.
With a battery you can last overnight and have everything functioning.
How long you can last and with what features/amenities becomes the debate.
My definition includes 110 A.C. power because I'm a wimp and need A/C.
I have no desire to sleep in hot conditions for recreation or as some form of enjoyment.
I'm really not a big off grid boondocker. But I do Wally dock or stay at marinas with any hook ups.
If it's summer time at some point I will need A/C on the east coast.
I agree the real definition of self contained may not include A.C. power. Nevertheless my definition includes the ability to just push a button and have full A.C power which gives me microwave,A/C television and all the comforts of home wherever my RV is parked. For me that is truly self contained.
As someone mentioned, I am RV'ing not camping. Afterall I have a full feature RV not a tent
