I have seat belts in my car. I have never needed them. I am glad I have them. I am not "paranoid" about getting in a crash. If you don't want to use them, that's fine with me.
I also have airbags (mother in law and wife!...Just kidding, dear!)
I have a fire extinguisher in my house. I have never needed it. I am not paranoid about fire. What you do is fine with me.
I have life insurance. So far (thankfully!), I have never needed it.
I have a generator in case the power goes out. Hardly ever use it, and I am not paranoid about it.
I carry a weapon, have never used it, and hope I never have to.
So, do what you want, and don't disparage other people for their choice.
