I am unsure what my receiver is rated for..I do know it's a 2.5" receiver with a 2" adaptor in it which I don't really care for much!
I plan on buying a 2.5" shank next spring to eliminate the adapter! I also need to still measure for a drop hitch for my utility trailer, but that will be a 2.5" shank so I don't have to mess with the adapter!!!!
Word of caution- remember to remove the adapter when you remove the hitch!!!! My buddy just bought a '13 Ram and after our families Halloween trip a couple weeks ago, he forgot to remove his adapter when he unhooked!!!! $35 dealer only item later he has a new one. Didn't see it on the side of the road anywhere.
As for adjusting the hitch: our tw is a little over 900lbs the one time weighed so far. Rear dropped (I think-paper is still in truck!) 1.5", front rose 3/8-1/2". Was a pain to try to adjust- Kept trying different head angles trying to achieve one more chain link under tension for the dual cam, but couldn't find it. So I think I have maybe 1/4" rise in front, maybe 1" drop in rear, and not even touching the overload springs!!!! Don't even think they engaged without the wd bars from what I remember!!!
In the spring I plan on hitting the scales to see where I am at. Maybe even have a new Reese hitch setup with the "toothed" washer system instead of my 2 hole washer setup!!!
