Welcome to RVing, 3K is a drop in the bucket over your RVing lifespan. Take the hit now and get something she likes or you will be posting here next year with a thread titled, "How many of you camp alone?"
I'm not trying to be a smart alec, just speaking from experience and observation of friends who have been down a similar path. The typical mistake is to hold onto the rig and, 'hope things work out', but they rarely work out and typically just get worse.
