Picked up the 2013 Dutchmen yesterday. Everything went well except with what I had for a current hitching setup. My shank wasn't right because it was an extended drop and the new camper was quite a bit taller than the old one. Also after weighing the tongue of the camper with the 2 30# propane cylinders and the battery installed it showed 925# of tongue weight. My current 600# bars weren't gonna cut it. After pricing out heavier bars and a different shank I ended up just having the dealer install a Reese Pro Series 1200# tongue weight distribution hitch which they did for $400 installed. Seemed it would be foolish on my part to have bought a $26,000 camper and then piece together a hitch system instead of just buying the right one. I think I made the right choice. Now I just have to decide if I am gonna keep running the Akuret tires that came on it or replace them with something better. Decisions, decisions.
Smart move on the hitch ;)
