Shout Out to Ready Brake Brute/Night Shift Auto

This is a shout out for the makers of the Ready Brake Brute tow hitch with supplemental braking system - Night Shift Auto of Iola KS.

We have used the Ready Brake Brute since 2004, and have been very pleased with its performance with two Class C's and our Saturn.

When we felt that the actuator arm and assembly seemed to be slower to respond and that it might be affecting braking, we contacted Night Shift Auto. Their helpful staff said that, despite the vintage of our system, they took their lifetime warranty seriously - "like Craftsman tools," he said, requiring only that we send the unit to them at our expense. They would service the unit at no cost and return it to us postpaid.

We sent the unit and they performed evaluation and maintenance service, replacing old parts with brand new at no cost. The unit was returned to us today.

It has been some time since we have seen service like this.

    Your problem may be as simple to fix just by adjusting the brake actuator cable. If too tight, brakes will actuate too soon; if to loose, the brakes will actuate too late. The adjusting procedure should have came with your installation instructions; if not look on Ready Brake's website or give them a call.

    So, I think I'm prematurely wearing the brakes out on our toad due to a really weak return spring and, hydraulic section in that actuator. I'll call them again when I return home from this trip we're presently on. Glad the OP got great service from them.

    Mine was not as bad as yours. But something similar was going on. Neither the old or rebuilt parts could be actuated by hand. I would call and talk to Todd. He is the person that took care of me when I stopped at the plant.

  • Same here. We stopped at NSA's place on our way home from CA last April.
    In 1 1/2 hours tow bar was removed, inspected repaired and installed back on RV and car. Brakes were coming on sooner than I thought they should. Braking actuator was replaced along with a couple of other parts. I am happy with operation now.
    To top that off we needed a place to stay for the night. There turned out to be a Passport America park in town.
