I just got my motor home back from service for a leak in our dinette slide. This is what the paperwork said was done."Correction. Clean slide roof and apply new roof tape to cover the crack at the inner fascia along the full length. 1 Hour"As you can see in the following picture, nothing was done. Slide top not cleaned, no new tape and the crack still runs the length of the slide.They had my motor home for over a month and charged me $350 for a job they didn't do. I will deal with the service center later but in the mean time I need to fix this. When we get a heavy rain, sometimes water comes in the top of the slide on the inside. It looks to me that all that needs to be done is some caulking needs to be run on the crack. The problem is the awning topper is in the way. I can reach in on each side of the slide and caulk in several feet but I can't get to the middle part of the slide. Is there an easy way to remove the slide topper so I can get to the middle part of the slide?

Would it be possible to unbolt the topper from the slide while it was in, and then run the slide out to get at the crack. There wouldn't be a lot of tension on the topper with the slide in, and shouldn't be much of a chore to bolt it back up when done. Just a thought.

I hate to say this but I doubt that the leak is coming from there. My slide tape looks exactly the same and I fought a leak for a year before finding it was coming in from the caulking on the outside trim of the slide. The caulk looked fine until I was on the ladder looking at the top and looked down at the trim on the bottom of the slide and could see that it actually had about a 3 inch area that had slightly pulled away from the edge like the size of a razor blade slit. The tape your concerned with covers the screws and seam where the L channel on top and the roof material meet. The crack your referring to is actually just where the edge of the tape stops. Unless that were peeled back about 3/4 inch back or farther it should still be sealed. And with the slide topper, that area would seem to be the less likely area to leak.

The leak is coming from the top of the slide. During a heavy rain, I get a leak dripping down the front of the dinette window and also in the top right hand corner of the slide near the front driver chair. There is a cover at the top of the window that hides the blinds when they are up. Is is covered with some type of cloth material. When it leaks, it gets damp and is starting to mold. The dinette slide only leaks when the slide is out. If the slide is in, I don't have any leaks.On my bedroom slide, there is no crack between the tape and the inner fascia of the slide. Maybe some other customer had his slide cleaned , taped and sealed for free. I do my own service work. It is to stressful and takes entirely to much time to deal with service centers.

I was able to get out of work early on Friday and drove up to Camping World. I talked to my service writer and showed him the picture. It was close to 5 and the tech who worked on my motor home was not there. He is supposed to talk to him today and call me.

Here is a picture of where the slide is leaking. You can see the paper towels and the blue tape. I believe the leak is coming from the top left corner of the slide and then weeping in to the top of the window frame. Each time it has leaked, it's been a delayed leak. What I mean is the leak starts some time after it starts raining. The first time it leaked it was from a rain from the day before. I got up in the morning and noticed some water coming down the inside of the window.

Not to run OT, but complaining to Camping World is like spitting into the wind. I had a sales manager try to physically intimidate me into signing a document, reported to CW, got a nice "we're going to look into that for sure and get back to you!". Over 2 years later and several inquiries from me to see if anything happened,.......{crickets}.....

You leak is more than likely from the frame around the slide

Shouldn't be a problem to detach the slide topper and do the work then put the topper back on. Go to you-tube look a videos of how to replace a slide topper. roll the topper out and pin it like they do in the instructions. Then remove the roller tube with the awning still on it lay it on the roof fix your leak problem put the roller back on remove the pins you installed job done.

The front corner of the slide is where I believe the leak is. The tape at the front end of the slide is a little messed up so I will check there. The window leaks from the top of the window frame but I believe the water is running in from somewhere the then running down the top of the window frame and exiting where ever it has a spot. I will try and take some pictures tonight as I have blue painters tape stuck where the slide was leaking last time.

Thank you very much for the suggestions as I believe the only way this is going to get fixed is by me and not camping world.

MetalGator, can you bring the slide in and work on the problem from inside the RV. I don't have a motor home but rather a 5th wheel and had a similar problem. Was able to bring the slide in and fix the problem from inside the RV.
