Slide manual override

My first TT had easy access to the slide motor, and a manual crank in case the motor broke. My current TT has neither... It's always nagging at the back of my mind, "what if it doesn't work"?

I found two great videos that have allayed my fears!

I'm going to cut open the underbody to find the motor this weekend.

  • Ours has a shaft sticking out through the frame with a 3/4" hex on it. Double check for one.
  • Mine came with a nice piece screwed on over no hole and not near where it needed to be.
  • My trailer came with an access already in the under belly to get to the motor and manual control of the slide. Decent square cut out with oversize piece of material screwed over the opening.
No labels, I opened and looked.
  • I would go ahead and find it.Sometimes what the book says is not what is there.Cut the hole on the sides and back, cut a u shaped piece of plywood to over lap your cuts..Put it up inside and screw both sides of cut back to it.When you need it you will know what you need.
  • WHY......WHY cut open the underbelly when you don't have an issue.

You are destroying the integrity of the underbelly for a "WHAT IF"

When the time comes...........SHOULD IT HAPPEN....then is the time to cut a 3 sided window for access.

Otherwise......check out the instructions for manual operation from your slide-out vendors instructions. Read them/familiarize yourself with the procedure----it's NOT that complicated.

Then forget about it until it becomes NECESSARY----------IF it does!
  • If you by chance have cable slide, you will find the motor in the top center of the slide. It has a fixture on the end that you can insert a drive and use a drill.
