Last time I went to FL the water stunk so bad. I removed my anode and installed a drain valve in it's place. No more stinky water. And before someone goes off on me, that was in 2007 and no, the tank is still in good shape 7 years later. I've said before, home water heaters have an anode and NOBODY ever changes them.
