Solar Cell Printer prints flexible, cheap solar cells!

The days of bulky, expensive solar panels that were heavy and required harsh chemicals to produce and a lot of labor to install may be coming to an end. Scientists in Australia have been able to produce the largest ever printed solar cells using a newly developed solar cell printer. Yes, they are printing solar cells.

The cells are flexible, cheap, and made from organic plastics and materials.

    Unfortunately they won't be too useful to RV folks--unless they can replace the awning. They only output 10-50 watts of power per square meter. They have been around since May of 2013 which suggests to me that they are more or less "stalled" from jumping into commercial production.

    Cost per watt at $1 may be the issue--as traditional solar panels are selling at that price point already.
