A friend of mine sold a Hummer for $75k and send her a personal check and waited for it to clear her bank before sending someone to pick up the vehicle. He did have someone look at it first, but he sent the money without picking up the vehicle.
I did a transfer when I bought my MH. We both banked at the same bank so it was very easy.
