Based on my many decades spent living on this planet (and witnessing, and/or being a victim of scammers, fraud, theft, etc.) two things I have to say about sales transactions:
1. It's never over 'til it's over (meaning the money is securely in hand). All things preceding the successful receipt of payment, is purely chatter.
2. Private party transactions should be held to the same set of high standards and controls employed in the business world . . . maybe even higher! Protect yourself.
