Congrats on making changes that are comfortable for you! That's great!
There are no rules on the books that say you have to be miserable or uncomfortable in your own camper!
Like you, we realized dinettes were horribly uncomfortable years ago. Our current camper came factory with all stand alone furniture. We ended up using the kitchen table for a catch all, and eventually took it out and all the chairs, and 2 rocker chairs and put in it's place a 3 seater household recliner couch. We use fordable camping end-table for tables inside and outside. and love being able to swivel the couch around on wheels to face directly in front of the television, or to just sit and gaze out the huge back window on the camper. In fact, we loved the couch so much, we got an identical one for the house! -High backs and recline, great for sloshing into to and just melting. And don't have to hold your head up. Just lean back and let that high back rest your head... and oh ... absolutely great for napping!
We have always thought of our camper as our "luxury suite". It has always been stocked with nice and pretty things, and things kind of unique for camping. When we go to the camper, we think of it as our vacation resort. Nothing primitive about our arrangement. And there's nothing wrong with having the luxury comforts either. Nothing says camping has to be "primitive".
We still have a tent and when the "itch" to sleep on the ground, get eaten by ants and mosquitoes, and burn my blankets trying to keep warm around a camp fire hits me again... well ... I always have the option to do so at any time! But at age 63 with artificial joints now, and arthritis in places I didn't even know exist... I'm pretty sure my sleeping on the ground days are over! Let the gandkids do that now! Meanwhile, I'm enjoy luxury! If YOU want to sleep on the ground ... then by all means ... go right ahead! I won't stop you. But don't expect me to be there with you. I've been there, done that, and now don't want to do that any more!
Now you truly have a great place to enjoy! Hopefully, you have arrangements you can use the camper and enjoy it when not actually camping, but when at home too.
Ours sits in our driveway at home. We live in the country. It's hooked up to electricity all the time. We sleep in it every night, haven't seen the inside of the house for weeks now, except to do laundry. So, hopefully, you'll be able to enjoy yours as much too!
Nice modifications! Now you can "snooze" in style!
