Well, so far things don't appear to be improving. On the 70mi tow up, had constant "waggle". No official sway noticed, but I did have to keep both hands on the wheel pretty much the whole time, and "suck" from semi's was pretty noticeable. Cold, tires were 55f/60r. For return, added 15 to the front, 20 to the rear, making it nominally 70/80. Except for feeling all the bumps more, no change. AND at one point I got enough rear sway to kick off the trucks anti-sway warning. Kinda spooky. Only other change was direction of cross winds, and wind speeds had gone from 8-12 to 10-17.
Here are the results from the weight station:
Steer: 3560 3380
Drive: 2840 3900
Trailer: 0 6860
Gross: 6400 14140
I did have the WDH fully set. Should I have done another reweigh without the WD? Anyway to tell what tongue is from the above?
I did do the bathroom scale weigh when I got home, as traveled, came up with 1076 for tongue. After draining water, came to 872.
One more weigh hooked up but with the WDH bars disconnected would give you the tongue weight and would tell if the WDH is properly adjusted. With the WDH bars hooked up, some of the tongue weight is transferred to the trailer axles. On my camper the tongue weight is 900 lbs and 16%, or 140 lbs. was transferred to the trailer axles. Even with the WD attached, the front end here is still 180 lbs. lighter than the truck alone. On mine, the front is only 100 lbs. lighter. With the WD bars disconnected, you could tell how much weight is lifted from the front and compare that to the front weight with the WD bars hooked up to see how much was returned to the front. With a 1076 tongue wt., the truck would weigh 7476 lbs. without the WDH. It weighed 7280 with the WDH hooked up. That would indicate that 196 lbs. (18% of tongue weight) was transferred to the trailer axles. It only costs $2 and a few minutes to get the third weight and it gives the whole picture on weight transfer by the WDH.
