We got tired of the TT rocking when someone was entering or exiting. I purchased 2 step stabilizers that I could mount in the corners of the bottom step. I actually haven't mounted them to the steps yet. I used them 2 weeks ago and simply placed them under the steps. They did a great job even though they were not physically mounted on the steps yet. They did fall down here and there but that was to be expected since they weren't mounted.Does anyone else use something like these? We got the ones that have the clip so that it can be safely stored in itself while in travel. The only problem is that our bottom step is in a vertical position when traveling so a bungee wrapped around the step would most likely be in order to keep the stabilizer more secure.

Looks like a good idea, I may have to get some.

I made one and they work great. When the steps are opened, the is a lot of cantilever effect. I am sure it will save you repairs down the road.

I use two of these under the center step. If your bottom step flips up over the center step for storage, placing a brace under it will only help when someone is standing on the bottom step. As they move to the second or third step, the bottom step with the supports under it will just swivel up and the motion and stress will still be transferred to the trailer.Randy

Where did you find yours? Looks like a great idea.. My TT has main door very near the back end and I too feel the motion from someone going up or down.. The flex is enough that I have to adjust the stabilizer on that corner almost daily, especially if I have guests.

Our brand-spanking new fifth wheel has wimpy steps. I am looking into this ASAP! Thanks for the tips.

I have installed kitchen cabinets for many years and made jacks to hold and level the uppers before screwing them on the wall. I made a tiny cabinet jack the is adjustable for our fifthwheel step for the reason the OP wanted. Nice to not feel people going down as it feels like an elephant is going down. so just one on the bottom step on the side of the hand rail works great. Our steps are not the wimpy steps of todays rv's so it was not the reason for doing. I have made many and take 2 with us each winter for anybody that needs a solid step. Easy to make and not better than products on the market but nice to do what a guy can do. I would send a picture but never got the hang of doing pictures on rv.net. So the answer to the OP is YES.

I just installed a pair of these before our last trip and they work great if properly adjusted. It did change the center of gravity of the step assembly when folded. When heading north on a very windy stretch of road a gust of wind blew the steps out and unfolded the first 2 steps. I noticed this just in time before going over a narrow 2 lane bridge that could have done some serious damage. I just used a bungie to hold them up and all was good.

I just installed a pair on our RV. Have only used it once since I installed them but so far they seem to be one of the best things I've done so far.

I finally took the time to really adjust these things on our 4th of July trip. We have a 3 step entry. I had to place a 4x4 under the middle step and then place the step stabilizer between the 4x4 and the middle step. I had one on each side of the step. It really did an amazing job and the step felt rock solid going up and down. I couldn't be happier.

I bought a small car scissor jack at a garage sale for $2.00 that I used under steps of one of our RV's for years. Cheapest way I found and it worked well. Could probably find one at a junk yard as well.
