We will be heading south while it's still frozen here, will have to wait a day or 2 before we can dewinterize. I think we'll dry camp the first night (at a full service CG), then dewinterize when we get somewhere warm. Any tips on how to do this at a GC? We usually run a lot of water through the system at home, prob not cool to do this at a CG. Any tips?Also, we may use the black tank for on the road emergencies...any way to do this safely? I've heard of people putting some water and antifreeze in the tank before leaving..Thanks!

How cold is it going to be? For black tank use I would just have some water in my fresh tank to flush with - doesn't matter if it is still mixed with the pink stuff.Before you use the sink/shower/etc you are going to want to do your normal dewinter but that doesn't matter for flushing the toilet.I have such a hard time getting the antifreeze out of the supply lines that I just blow out the lines now and don't bother with it.

When traveling in freezing weather we use RV antifreeze full strength for the commode.

We use the pink stuff to flush the toilet on the way. It should already have a gallon or more in it. We use bottled water to drink. We keep the furnace on and set at about 50 degrees.To sanitize we hook up the white hose to the RV FW Tank inlet then pour 3/4 Cup of bleach into the hose, connect to the CG supply, fill the FW tank, run the pump to get the bleach solution into the lines and the water heater, then refill the FW tank. Drive for at least three hours then open the FW tank drain valve and let it drain while on the road. Dump the Water Heater at a Rest Area, while on the road, or at the next CG. Flush the system with fresh water and you are good to go.BTW we don't use the CG water supply inlet to the camper.

Do you also open the low point drains to accelerate the process?
