Storage in Lake Havasu, AZ

We live in Washington and are taking a cross country trip in late August. Since we go to Lake Havasu in mid January, we are thinking about storing the MH in an enclosed storage facility in Lake Havasu and driving our toad home. Then in January driving the toad to Lake Havasu to get our MH. Here are my concerns. Firstly, I exercise my generator and take the MH out for a short run monthly. Of course this won't be possible while in storage. Will this create a problem or am I being to concerned? Secondly, I plan to open some windows and vents, but would a dehumidifier be in order? If so, how would I be able to empty the water that collects? I know many others do this, so I am wonder what I am missing.

  • Your biggest problem will be finding a storage unit. When several friends checked last spring, none were available for an rv.

For several months I stored my Class A at Lakefront Boat & RV Storage in Lake Havasu City for about $260/month.

They had 15A electric GFI which I used. However, during a summer storm the GFI tripped and when I came back to check on my RV, the batteries were dead.

So I suggest pulling your batteries.

De-humidifier? No, no, no -- this is not Washington. The area typically has single-digit humidity so you put several 5 gallon buckets of water in your RV and keep the windows closed.
