Stranded near Sacramento, can anyone help?

I guess I should clarify for those who worry about personal responsibility that, before leaving home, I checked with my doc who said I should expect no problems, I checked with my insurance agent who said there is no such thing as insurance that would help in a case like this (I am glad to learn that is incorrect, for next time), I lined up 4 friends and family who could help me in case of emergency (they all have had emergencies of their own -- one broke her arm, two needed emergency surgery, and one has to fill in at her work because of (legal) immigrant professionals who are held up at the border. I did not make specific plans for a situation where I was hung up partway and then a huge local dam threatened to break. Somehow I did not think of that one!

So, after 12 days of brainstorming with family and friends on how to get out of here, I am starting to seriously worry.
