- naturistNomadI think there's more to it than that. An astonishing number of folks are barely brave enough to venture out into the wilds, but not brave enough to enjoy it.
We once owned a house on a quiet cul de sac at the edge of town. Lots were acre-and-a-half, and although there was a house directly across the street, there were empty lots on either side and several hundred acres of woods behind. One couple who came to look at it had told their realtor they wanted seclusion, but the wife expressed her horror over the isolation and that she could never live so far from civilization.
So the answer to your question is "yes," but it's worse than you know. The only way I know to counteract that energy field is to present your rig as the most terrifying spot on the 500 acre field. Fly a giant skull & crossbones pirate flag, or a confederate flag, scatter empty beer cans liberally around, fire a shotgun wildly in the air when you see 'em comin', and chase your SO, around the RV several laps, both of you nearly naked and screaming at the top of your lungs. And if you can have 3 or 4 pitbulls barking loudly in the scrum, that will help, too. - pa_travelerExplorerIts the wagon train effect, circling the wagons.
- RoyBExplorer III think it is more of the "Birds of a feather flock together"... People with similar likes, appearance, or behavior hang together. It probably give a big sense of security as well.
It does happen over and over. We setup in Meadow Loop camping here around SHERANDO LAKE just off the Blue Ridge parkway and was the only campers in this one corner area for 10-15 camp sites. Woke up the next morning to find at least five campers right next to us haha...
Roy Ken - TwomedExplorerYeah and they usually feel a need to protect you with their "scare" lights on all night.
Feel secure...camp on...:) :) - TeamfourExplorerIt could be the smell from your cooking, or how attractive your significant other is. ;)
- pugslyyyExplorerWell you obviously scouted the whole field and found that spot so there must be a reason - might as well just follow you!
:) - FizzExplorerYes.
This is a well known scientifically proven fact.
It attracts the paranoid and the ones who are afraid of the dark and fear the Boogy Man. - DutchmenSportExplorer"Birds of a feather flock together!" Someone had to blaze the first trail, and then everyone else followed, and eventually it became an Interstate!
There is no such thing as "privacy" in this world we live in today! None!
