Stupid question about power cord.

Ok folks, I have a really stupid question. This is driving me nuts and there's no way I can be the only one with this problem!!

When shoving the 30 amp power cord back into the hole outside the camper, how does everyone keep it from getting knotted up inside? I think I've removed the panels inside to get to the cord countless times to untangle this dang thing... No matter how carefully I put it away is always gets twisted around itself somehow. I think I may just to get a 50' 30amp extension cord and just never pull more than 2-3 feet out of the camper. Just run the extension cord from the pedestal to the camper and leave the excess bundled laying under the camper for the duration of our stay?

Anyone ever had this problem? What do you all do? The PUP we used to use had really easy access to the cord (under dinett seats) so if it got tangled it wasn't a big deal. This new hybrid the cord isn't as accessible and I certainly don't wanna have to pull panels off every time we go camping...

  • What it sounds like it's bouncing
You coil out up nice and lay the cord end on top
Then it bounces around and there is a coil loop or two opened up
You reach in and pull out the cord end ... between the coils

    You might try this
a piece of something flat and rigid that will just fit thru the door, plastic or plywood
Cut a slot, big enough for the cord to slide into but not big enough for the cord end
You want this to act like a collar
Coil cord..But not all the way..leave end having out
Then place collar on top of coil
Then push cord into slot with cord end on top of collar

This should keep coil loops down and cord end on top
  • Nope, you are not the only one. I have posted this before in the past. I had the same problem, always tangled Behind the small access door. We were camping next to a young family and dad was teaching his, about 5 year old) son how to put the power cord back into their unit. So, of course it was interesting to me. He showed him to straighten it out and the very slowly feed it back into its spot. Hmmm.. Next time I had to put my power cord, I followed dad''s instructions.

Every time I fed a small amount of cord back in I said SLOW to myself. it worked.
Never had a tangled cord again in that unit. So dad taught his son and an unknown grandmother at the same time.
  • Mine has always laid correctly, not sure how to help except as previous poster eluded to the detachable option

I installed a Marinco Park Power inlet and store my cord. I used the original and made a backup cord and purchased a Marinco cord as well.
