Stupid Question....Tundra

I ask this question because I want to Know....I have a tow dolly and a MH I want to go on a fishing trip and take my 2001 Tundra 2WD Auto V8 with me.
why can't I load the Tundra on the dolly start the motor put it in N and go and just let the motor run I'm only going 180 miles. Will I damage anything towing this way.

So far no answer to my question.... Not going to tow backwards the drive shaft... Just wondering if I could leave the engine idling and tow for 180 miles..... My guess is no... Could hit a bump and kick tranny into drive or reverse .... Need to look at how much trouble to disconnect the drive shaft or take another car....

Very easy to disconnect the drive shaft. Just make sure you chock the wheels before you do it for safety reasons. Use a good strap to tie the drive shaft up to the frame.

Maybe put the back wheels on the dolly and tie the steering wheel down like the tow drivers used to do.

What ever you do don't do this. The weight of the motor can cause a situation of a real hazard where the front end of the truck being heavier than the rear will start going from side to side and waging the tow dolly causing you to lose control. Personal experience and $10,000.00 later, lesson learned.

    Good point.
