The nut is open. Bottomed out means no threads between the 2 pieces of metal, per the mfr after i finally got ahold of them. They said to loosen the adjustment bolt until no threads show on the on off handle. Then adjust the adjustment bolt by loosening the on off 2 turns, turn the adjustment bolt until you feel drag, then loosen the adjustment 1/4 turn. Use that as a starting point and adjust with 1/4 turns after test driving.
