Doesn't matter what you wrote, you used the words "Halogen" and "Scare light" in the same sentence and you set the tone for the post until it gets closed. Those words bring out the best in some folks. Buckle up.
FWIW - I think you want did the right thing by making yourself less invasive. It will keep the "torch and pitchfork" crowd off your campsite when you want to take the dogs out.
