I am not a big technology person. Last week, I went into a Best Buy because my laptop stopped working. My observation is this-While I was in the Best Buy, I saw an amazing assortment of tablets, chrome books, readers, and stuff that I don't even know what they are. It seems to me that these devices can replace a lot of the expensive TVs that are frequently standard equipment in RVs. I'm just wondering if I am off-base, or are the RV manufacturers installing and making buyer's pay for standard TV equipment that should be offered as an option? I know that there are RVs that are minimally equipped but I think more often than not, it's hard to find a workable floor plan without a TV.

If they are going to keep installing worthless CRT TVs they should just stop.

laptops, tablets, etc. are fine and dandy platforms for watching video but how are you going to get the content to the platform? campground wifi systems cannot handle the load that would result and many of them will severely throttle your download speed if *any* streaming data is detected. got your own wifi hotspot? ok, that'll work if you have the bucks.

Well, I don't even know what a CRT TV is. I did get a Wi-Fi hotspot while I was in Best Buy, I wanted a secure connection-$80.

CRT - Cathode Ray Tube. Original tv. Heavy and needed a bunch of room from front to back.

I think my TT is usually the only one in the CG without a TV. It has a place for two small ones. We decided not to put them in. We make our kids go ummmm.. outside and play!!! I know we're mean. LOL

After this trip to Myrtle Beach we are considering putting a small one in to watch the weather. Lots of storms this year, and wifi and cellular data were so overwhelmed you could barely send a text much less look at weather app.

Back to the OPs original question. RV manufacturers are not including TVs to run up the price. Nearly everyone in the US is addicted to television. Most people would pass-up an RV that didn't have one. If they just provide a place for a TV, without providing a TV, it looks like something is missing. Are microwaves included to run up the price? What about air conditioning?

"FOR SALE $50"

You can find CRT TV's in any number of cheaper hotel chains and most hospitals!

Goodwill no longer takes CRT TVs here. Stores like Bestbuy will recycle them.

I put a CRT up for sale on Craigs List - nobody wanted it at 20 bucks, so lowered to 10. Its going to goodwill.

CRT's have not been produce for the US for many years. And yes you can still get them in Mexico. However that being said, most manufactures change over in the Mid 2000. You can not find a CRT in anything early then 2009 or maybe earlier.
