Television Antenna

Has anyone ever had a wear problem on the roof in the spot the antenna travels on? Today was the first really good look I have had at my roof. There was no problem, but it looks like a wear pad should be there to keep the antenna from contacting the roof.
  • I had the wear problem, and a roll of Eternabond tape. I placed a section of Eternabond over the worn section as others have done, problem solved.
  • My 'batwing' has 4 rubber pads on the part that rests on the roof.. It's a 2003 TT and no problems to date with it..

I can see where the pads touch the roof, but it's not worn thru or anything.

  • I have used Eternabond for anything that needs to be stuck together. The front wall in my TH was a single piece of 4x8 luan board that would flex and pull the cheap staples out. So I removed it, wrapped the studs in Eternabond (sticky side up), put the board back, stapled it...viola...no more wall falling down...

I guess if you are really worried about it, put some nice cutout pieces of Eternabond up there....that stuff takes a freaking beating and keeps on ticking....

Great idea .... have some left over Eternabond and will put to good use.

  • I'm with you. I've used the felt self stick pads you can buy at the hardware store under mine and they have not fallen off. if nothing else it made me feel better to know my roof would not wear through.
