Given that the first reported case in the United States was in Washington State January 21st, I would suggest getting an antibody test when they become available before making the claim that you had it at the beginning of January.
Well, look at it this way, now the first reported case is the first week of January. And there are several of my relations that also had the same, or worse, symptoms that I had. IMO it's been here, they just didn't know what it was.
