Given that the first reported case in the United States was in Washington State January 21st, I would suggest getting an antibody test when they become available before making the claim that you had it at the beginning of January.
Well, look at it this way, now the first reported case is the first week of January. And there are several of my relations that also had the same, or worse, symptoms that I had. IMO it's been here, they just didn't know what it was.
First reported case in Missouri was around March 8th in St. Louis County for someone that had been in Italy. When the antibody tests come out that will provide more information. 93% accuracy is not bad.
