Let's not forget that it is also tax $$ that are supplementing the purchase of electrics and hybrids through tax credits.
Can I borrow the Prius this weekend, seems only fair since I helped pay for it? :B - beemerphile1ExplorerEconomics 101 - Supply and Demand
Demand is down/neutral and supply is up creating downward pressure on prices. - nomad297Explorer

Thank you so much for bringing down the price of gasoline. We all owe you a pat on the back for being so much more environmentally conscious, intellectual and wealthy than us. What would we ever do without you Prius owners?

Funny folks like to tout their electric or hybrid cars as zero emissions, good for the environment, etc. I was talking to a guy with a Volt who was spewing its virtues. Since he had a pretty long commute, and electricity isn't exactly cheap, I asked him if it was really worth it. He smugly said of course, and that since the State University where he taught had free recharging stations, it was really cheap. Hey pal, that's not free, my taxes are helping to fuel your car!
Between the toxic batteries, the coal/natural gas/nuclear power used to create the electricity, these cars aren't the most environmentally friendly!
Most of what makes up the fuel prices is taxes. As more cars become more efficient, they're only going to raise the tax.
So, I don't know what you camp with, but how well does the Prius tow? Or do you use a 5mpg mh to pull it? - rexlionExplorerIt was reported a couple weeks ago that the oil price was being driven down by cheap Iraqi oil being sold on the black market at cut-rate prices by ISIS.
- goducks10ExplorerIt'll be back up next summer like always for whatever reason.

- TurnThePageExplorerUnfortunately diesel continues to be around $1/gal more than regular unleaded here. It's been that way for years, and has thus lost any potential luster in my eyes.
These lower prices are definitely refreshing. Here's hoping it lasts for a long while. My rving plans would definitely benefit. - noe-placeExplorerSince we're talking gasoline prices. Here it's $2.83 for reg. And since none of the posts I've ever read actually can see into the future I'm enjoying the low prices as long as possible. I suggest we all do the same so our collective blood-pressure comes down.

What I want to know is why diesel is running almost 80 cents a gallon more than gasoline? It annoys me to see local service stations advertising regular unleaded at $2.99 but still demanding $3.79 a gallon for diesel!
Possibly because winter is coming and many use fuel oil in the north east.
Plus, the trucking industry puts a high demand on diesel.

Diesel in NJ is running only a few cents more than premium.
Premium can be had for $2.90-2.95 and diesel is down to about $3.
