This is a commonly held myth. All gasoline for ALL stations, with very few exceptions, comes from the same distributor. All the trucks with the gas company logos fill at the same place. The different additives for different brands are added AT THE FILL POINT when the truck takes on it's load of fuel.
A few exceptions to this is that a large metropolitan area may have one or more distributors and in a few cases Chevron (at least in Seattle) has it's own distribution point. But even there other trucks fill there for non Chevron stations.
There may be lots of reasons for differing gas mileage. But the basic refined gasoline is all the same with very few and minor differencees all meeting federal and state specs.
