Thanks for all the concern. We were on very high ground compared to the lower campground entrance road. Probably 50+ vertical feet, so in no danger at our site.
The exit road is quite a bit higher than the entrance, too.
The trouble is, the park does not have a secondary or emergency entrance/exit, though there are plenty of good locations to do so. Of course then there's the problem of vandals, thieves, non-paying people sneaking in...
We really wouldn't mind if we were "trapped" at the CG for a couple of days, we had plenty of food and such. We'd just convert to boondocking ;)
If we *really* had to get out, I had the canoe with me :R :B
We made it to "Camp Backyard" sometime about 11pm last night and setup "camp"
This was our first time hitching, dumping, and then setting up in the dark. Headlamps are a really awesome invention!
We were sooo tempted just to head the other direction into Ohio, find a Walmart parking lot if necessary, then pull into another CG for the weekend. But being Labor Day and all didn't really relish the idea of towing in crazy traffic.
But, we are one step closer to hitting the road for longer and more impromptu trips. Now that we're getting *practice* :B
FYI- I asked the Mod to close the other duplicate thread. I got something messed up posting via cell from my tablet. Thanks.
