Thread closure
...at random. ...without explanation. Bad practice.

I've been on many different forums before and I have owned several myself. I have been on both ends of the spectrum as a poster and a moderator.
But, I do agree that there should be some explanation either in the posting as for the closure or if it's deleted that the OP, should be at least given a reason in a private message. Just good manners to me. Now if a poster becomes a problem, then by all means zap them.
