Those that say they can find a hotel as quickly as they can a campground, must not research the hotels. As I travel by myself, I tend to research which hotel to stay at as carefully as I do a campground. I stayed in a hotel a couple months ago, when my mom had surgery in a town neither of us lives in. I knew I would, as a lone female nearing 60, be checking into hotel late in the evening and would be interested in getting rest. Location was very important to me. I chose a hotel further from hospital than the High end one nearby, because I felt more comfortable with the location. Hospital provided security to their parking garage, and hotel I chose was in a well light commercial district with stores, restaurants open until late. And the really cool part, the lady working the desk, put me in a room down the hall in a very slightly occupied wing, so I could go to sleep.
anyhow I spend as much if not more time searching for a hotel as I do a campground. cleanliness and safety are important.
