I spend more nights than I care to count in Hotels for work. If I never see another Holiday Inn Express "veggie egg white deluxe omelet" in my life it will be too soon.
By myself, I can pull into a hotel, walk inside with my backpack and travel bag and be sprawled on the bed in under 15 minutes. Travelling with the family, haul all their stuff inside, deal with the drama of the girls bathroom setup... you get the idea.
We visit the inlaws for a week each year. Drag a TT halfway across the country. Definitely don't save any money. But the inlaws don't have space for us in their house. Even if they did I can't spend more than about an hour inside before my allergies go wild. With the RV there, I walk outside to my personal apartment. There are no h/motels nearby.
Each have their benefits. It is a waste of time to try to justify one over the other.
