Lots of places I want to visit, there are no motels nearby.
I am now in southern Utah. Motels are scare. Motels around popular attractions are likely to be booked so you could face a long drive to find a vacancy. I have no such issues as I can stay in BLM or forest service dispersed camping areas if all campgrounds are full.
Traveling long distances on the open highway makes for an interesting comparison. I get tired of driving hour after hour whether it is in a car or the RV. With the truck camper I can stop at a truck stop or rest area, use the facilities, fix a meal and take a nap. I am then ready to go again. In fact that has become my travel norm. I drive for about 4 hours, take a nap for a half hour or so and then log another 4 hours. My next rest is like to be about an hour with a final drive of a couple more hours. With this sort of schedule, I can easily drive 10 hours or so and be alert and refreshed. With a car I have to stop much earlier. Trying to take a cat nap sitting in the car just does not work as well as laying down on a comfy Queen sized bed for a short snooze.
