like most of the questions it depends 'how' you RV.
I did snowbird with just my suv several times staying with friends when I reached Florida.
That said, I was using motels that were right off the interstate for ease of off and on.
THIS is where I found ALL the motels, irregardless of brand name, to be in deplorable condition. And having not used motels for a few years I was also shocked at the rates.
Motels and hotels 'near destination attractions' for those that vacation RV usually are quite different. They can't afford to be not in good clean condition but of course the rates are usually double.
Two times Snowbirding in the SUV and motel staying? Sent me right out to buy a MH!
Haven't looked back. You could not pay me to ever stay in a motel again.
Not to mention many of these motels have started renting their rooms out by the week/month which you don't know when you check in. Can't tell you how many I stayed at that when the sun went down the whole place turned into a drug/gang house.
On a lighter note IMHO one of the biggest savings using an RV, especially where families are involved, is the cost of eating out.
The cost of the motel per night AND the cost of three meals a day in restaurants for each family member, probably would pay a monthly RV loan payment three times over. :B
