Small 110V pancake compressor from harborfreight.com, they run from $39.95 to $59.95 plus 20% off coupon. I use one abound the farm for tires etc. it will actually run a framing nail gun (slow but works)pumps to 150 PSI

I have on identical to what RoyB showed. It clips direct to battery and works GREAT. I has a 8 ft. chord and 12 ft. hose.

12 volt compressor

Not cheap but I am tired of the junk compressors that just don't survive. Junk regulators and tank hoses.

This thing is small enough to be carried and comes with a nice bag that holds everything. You will have no issues reaching any of the tires.

I bought a mount for it and keep it in place with wing nuts in case I want to take it out. It airs fast enough and has plenty of power. Hopefully this will be the last compressor I need.

The onboard engine compressor is a pain to use because of the high pressures I need for the tires. Running this in an enclosed compartment (plenty of cool air), keeps the noise very low.,

If it plugs into the cigarette lighter, it will be quite slow. A good bicycle tire pump may well be faster but more effort and still rather on the slow side.

If you have a generator, I would suggest getting a small AC powered compressor. I have and am very satisfied with a Fini AirBoss compressor, which is quite compact, and shaped something like a suitcase. Sears also sells the same unit rebranded. It came with a proper air hose with quick-connect couplers that's long enough to reach any tire on my class C when it's plugged into the outside outlet. (It also has a separate little tire inflation hose built in that I have never used.)

You can buy something similar to what RoyB showed at Harbor Freight. Just be sure the cables are long enough to reach from your battery to the furthest tire. Works great and is small.

We use the tankless 12VDc Portable air compressor (AMAZON) that is rated for 150PSI but I doubt it would never get that much haha...

For us this is great for our OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer setup - Our main use is in the winter months to blow-out our water lines in the POPUP trailer water system for winterizing in a hurry. We use an adapter at the city water port where we can put compressed air into the water lines from there...

Being tankless it doesn't jump right into high air pressure when turned on and slowly builds up air pressure. This is exactly what we need for blowing out our POPUP trailer water system...

Works good for us topping off our trailer and truck tires. With its long provided air hose we just sit the the air compressor on the dropped tail gate of the truck and connect to the trailer 12VDC batteries directly. Then we can walk around to all of the tires with the long hose... The small air compressor stores great under the truck rear seat...


I suspect you may be loosing some DC POWER just plugging into a 12VDC lighter socket. May work better if you clip directly onto the battery terminals.

I have a Viair 300P its supposedly good for 150 psi although that's way more than I need. It pumps the tires up quickly and doesn't get super hot. Comes with an 8' power cord and 25' air hose so it gives you quite a bit of reach. It has battery clips though, not a plug for the cigarette lighter.

They also make larger models specifically targeted for RV's.
