Tires from Costco or Sam's

One thing we've run into trying to buy tires at costco is they only have a few sizes and never seem to have the size we need.

Two sets of Michelin MS2's one on my last dually and one on my new dually. Discount beat the snot out of Costco's price! $1,270 including tax for 6 and well over $1,400 at Costco actually nearly $1,500.

I've had two sets of Costco tires on our motorhome. The problem is the fact they generally do not have the facilities to lift a MH, so they roll the floor jacks out to the parking lot. Depending on who is there at the time when I want a balance, I get the gamut of stories about - sure or can't do, or make an appt (then at appt time, get blank stares as the issue was hot-potato-ed to them).
I've made it easy for them by removing the wheels/tires & hauling them in my pickup. This is, obviously, not workable for most folks.



Check with your Costco to see if they handle your RV, whatever it may be.

I've also purchased several sets of Michelins for my cars & pickup & kids cars, etc, all with good satisfaction.

The only caustion I would give is this: I know from personal experience that WAL MART often negotiates with manufacturers a price point. The manufacturers then produce a product to meet that. This often (but not always) means a reduction in some level of quality. The manufacturers assign DIFFERENT model/part numbers for those products.

A way to tell if this is the case is to look at the model no. or serial number carefully and compare it to the same tire at a tire store...if they are the same the tire is the same, if not then it is a tire made especially for Wal Mart Sams Club...Now WM and Sams are two different corporations and I do not know that Sams does this or not. My guess is they do as they have packaging of products that no other vendors have.

In general I think if the tire specs are what you need then the tires from Sams/Costco will be just fine.

Just check the tire's specs to make sure you are comparing apples to apples. During my latest search for tires for the 5er Walmart had a very good price on BFG Com TA but the specs listed for the "E" wasn't 3042lbs but 300 lbs less. I called & spoke with the manager and he said they sell "special runs" with discounted specs and prices. I suspect that with Costco's purchasing power they may be able to do the same.

Yes it's a good idea if they have the tires you want at a price you'll pay. Over the years we have purchased tires from Costco, Samsclub, Walmart, and Discount Tire without any issues. With the exception of Discount Tire we just did some shopping while tires were installed killing two birds with one stone.

Just like anything else we purchase we shop around for the best deal from a reputable retailer and whoever has the best out the door price gets our business. It's similar to when we are looking for RV products, I would like to purchase them from Camping World as I enjoy this forum they provide. Alas, it is a rare instance that we do with their pricing and shipping charges.

Not accurate. Their tires are the same as any other tire dealer sells. I had a Costco purchased tire replaced due to an accident and the repair shop had no problem matching the tire.

Olny problem is that if you have one of a set go bad, you cannot get a matching replacement any where other than a Sams or Cosco. The ones they carry are made for them only. I have used tires from both with success, and have been happy. I became unhappy with that particular store later, so when I had to replace a front tire only, we had to to another city to get a matching replacement.
