To the guy pulling the trailer eastbound on I-64 today

Sorry I had to pass you on the right, I could see that annoyed look on your face. You pulled into the left lane with all of the other traffic passing that idiot with the unsecured load of furniture in the back of his pick up with one strap on it and his flashers on at 50 mph...

As we approached the long hill, everybody else but you pulled back into the right lane, but you couldn't...because you had no towing mirrors and couldn't see anything in the right lane. I came up behind you at the 70 mph speed limit but you couldn't see me....with the trans kicked down to 3rd and the TC locked, I could easily maintain speed going uphill....as long as I didn't have to take my foot off of the gas. The right lane was clear so I used it.

Do yourself a favor and get yourself a good set of mirrors so you can see who else is on the highway with you when you are towing. Hope you had a great camping weekend, we did!

I think you will miss the blind spot on the right side of trailer! Technology is nice, but not perfect.
  • well I can see the scenario where he and the others having passed the slower vehicle and even though he cleared the slow vehicle may have been too close to the vehicle ahead if he moved right, meaning he would not have been able to maintain his speed had he left off the gas to move into the right lane… the OP states that leaving off the gas should not be the option to take… :B
who determines who should leave off the gas, and passing on the right of a vehicle you are sure couldn’t see you and didn’t know you were there was hardly a wise idea…

I think they teach that in driving school now
    Left lane is to travel
Middle lane to get on and off
    Right lane to pass

    This I agree with :)
  • Forget about what that guy should have seen behind him- the most amazing thing is the X-ray vision you have enabling you to see everything in front of him despite the fact that your nose was up his bumper. Couldn't have been that he was doing any more passing or anything like that...he really should have fallen back to the right like everyone else that saw you coming. Guess he didn't know who he was dealing with.

I'm with you- he needs to buy some new mirrors toot-sweet so he can see the Magic Laser Beam Signal from your rig telling him that you own the whole fast lane.
  • You don't want him to give up his lane do you? He may have to move back over in another 2 miles. See this alot even with non towers.
  • Putting it on this site is all for naught. No one on this site would do that, so they will never see it!!!

. Yep. I get to see everything behind me almost to my rear bumper. Mirrors are nice but a camera is better.
  • Definitely my pet peeve. 99 percent of the drivers feel they have a god given right to drive in the left lane no matter what speed they travel and never look in the mirrors if they have them.
