DH has decided we need a new toilet. I'm not sure why, ours works but the lid keeps falling off, it has a claw like attachment and won't stay on, which is a pain but.... Never needing to purchase a toilet before, ever. So I am wondering...Is there an advantage to a china bowl? Is the weight significantIs one design better than another, I see the price range anywhere from 99 to over 500 but they all look like toilets to me. Thanks for your help in advance

China's nice. Not sure what you mean about the lid. Gravity works just fine on mine.

If your talking about the toilet seat then many of them are just common residential lids. You can buy a replacement at Home Depot, etc.If you replace the whole toilet be careful of height if you have any doors that have to swing over the top of it. I bought a new toity and the shower door that swings over it cleared by only 1/4".

No, the regular toilet lids won't fix on our RV toilet Height is going to be an issue because it sits on a 6" shelf as it is. I would need a low one.

We've got the china bowl Dometic 310 in our new trailer and really like it. I think it's their cheapest china bowl toilet. The 310 is a popular model that comes standard on many rigs. We had a plastic Thetford in our old trailer and it never gave us any problems. The china is easier to clean IMO.

Many of the newer Montana models come with Thetford toilets and some folks have had issues with them. We have only used ours about 11 months and so far so good. At the first sign of trouble we are going to look at one of the Dometic models though. Most RVers give them extremely good reviews.

We had a Sealand china toilet in out 87 Itasca and we really liked it, that being said our current MH has a plastic one (I think it is a Thetford) and we like it OK. I think I would prefer the china and it will probably last longer.

We have a Thetford Aqua magic china bowl. Love it. We replaced the orginal with same china bowl our
5th wheel came with. Be sure and get the taller one, you will appreciate that.

We LOVE our new Dometic ReVoution 310. Not expensive. Easy to clean and much quieter flushing than the OEM one. Guy at Camping World told me that they could just remove all the other ones on display because the 310's fly off the shelf.

I agree with this. Porcelain is easier to keep clean also!

We first installed it in our previous Coachmen motorhome in 2008, and then moved it to our current Landau this past summer. We like it that much better than the plastic toilets. The Plus is available in both high and low profile versions.

I would never have another plastic. Porcelain are far easier to keep clean and good ones will have silver in the glaze. Makes them somewhat self cleaning. Right Height is nice if you can find one.

We currently have plastic. When it needs to be replaced, we will replace with a china one simply for the ease of cleaning.

Plastic will always become brittle and yellow over time. China doesn't really age at all over time. If I were to replace a toilet I would definitely go with porcelain!
