Tow Silverado with 275 Cummins

Question

I have a '98 Winnebago Chieftain with the 275 Cummins ISB & Allison 6-speed, and am thinking about flat towing my 2003 Silverado 1500HD 4x4 (curb weight 5500#). Chieftain GVWR is 24,850 and GCWR is 29,850. I got weighed fully loaded on a trip and the MH by itself was 20,800. The MH + toad would be around 26,600# (depending on accuracy of 'curb weight' of 5,800#).
Can the MH tow this much weight (seems like a lot even though it is rated).
Is this setup going to be feasible?

Here are a couple things to think about.What is the weight rating for the hitch?You will need a braking system for the Silverado too.

I would check the hitch rating, and go get the Silverado weighed at a scale.  Unless you know both weights, you won't know if you are over the hitch, and in that case none of the other numbers will matter.  You will need a supplemental brake which some will tell you you won't need it, and you will not see many toads with a brake away set up for the toad in case all else fails, but I have and use both.

I believe you'll find that you only have a 5000 towing capacity, regardless of how much the coach actually weighs. The limitation will be in the hitch itself. Will it pull it? I'm sure it will if you don't mind going up the hills with the OTR trucks.

And with that much weight behind you, you'll definitely need a good braking system for the chevy.
