Towing 2014 jeep rubicon x

I have a 2011 monaco diplomat 43dft that I am towing a 2014 jeep rubicon x with and have about 3,000 miles of towing on it. The front tires are aggressive tread tires are stock BF Goodrich mud terrain LT 255/75/R17. PROBLEM is the front tires have 100% tread has been destroyed and needed to be replaced. I want to know if anyone else has had a similar situation. I tow with a falcon 2 bar. Is this alignment or something else?

Not it if you don't have one.
  • It's not the lack of braking. Sounds like an alignment problem. It would only take a short time to kill the tires if it's not tracking the MH correctly.

Does the jeep steer well when you drive it?

Off to the Jeep dealer I would say.
  • I have a 2014 Rubicon 4 door, I have tow it twice form home in Ct to Tx. As of now we have almost 6ooo tow mile on it and almost 11000 driven miles on the tires aggressive tire that it came with. The Rubicon is standard trans with 4.11 gear. Two setup is Blue Ox. Tires are in excellent condition.
I would say you have an alignment problem.

  • We have the exact same tires and have driven 4500 miles and towed over 2000 miles. Our tires look almost brand new. We don't leave the key in the jeep when towing. We tow with a ready brute elite attached to blue ox adapters on a custom bumper (Rockhard). What are you using for the braking system?
  • No lift no aftermarket. All oem stock. Do you drive with key in what position for steering wheel. My 2012 locked but this 2014 doesn't?
  • Is the jeep lifted, or does it have aftermarket wheels?

We towed our 2014 JK 10k miles this year with no unusual wear.
  • i'd want to say you have some alignment issues with the Jeep, that's not a typical situation fro what I've read over the years.
  • And I maybe guessing a little big on amount of towing mileage it could be as little as 1,500 miles???? I had prior to the rubicon x a wrangler unlimited sport model 2012 with oem tires not very aggressive and never had a problem for thousands of miles of towing with same falcon 2 bar. Thanks
