As a poster just stated a carefully setup half ton truck makes a quite capable tow vehicle. As has been said proper tires and correct inflation have a significant effect. My rig was feeling rubbery once and it was simply because my truck tires needed a little more pressure, 5 more psi firmed things up fine.
You can throw money at a problem or throw knowledge at it; I suggest trying knowledge first.
