In truth. Most socalled 1/2 ton trucks would have no problem with a TT that size, as long as the hitch is setup correctly, and they have the right gear, and engine. Correctly adjusted. A F150, or 1500 series towing a TT that size, and weight should have NO sway at any speed even with out sway control. I know mine does.
As one posted said. Throw knowledge at it, and you won't have to throw money at it. The folks that didn't take time to do it right, and went and bought more truck. Would be very surprised how well a properly setup 150 tows a 31' 7500GVWR TT. Truck just works a little harder than it does not towing. But not much. but then they ALL do. No matter how big the truck is.
I like the way you think. If I can't throw knowledge at it then maybe I'll throw money at the knowledge and get an expert to help me set it up. If you Google F-150 towing capacity it lists a maximum up to 10,400 pounds. And that's the factory number. Some say that number is inflated, but this website (which I found in another thread here) says that the US numbers are generally understated. I think you are probably correct that if the truck and hitch are set up well it will tow well.

I think what you'll find is that a Ford F150 with standard hitch receiver is limited to a tongue weight of 1000 lbs with a WDH. Without one, it is limited to 600 lbs. You will run out of payload capacity and hitch rating long before you reach the 10K + lbs towing capacity.
Also, despite what has been said about no difference when driving between unloaded and towing, you will find a huge operational difference with a pick up truck when it is towing near it's capacity. The first few grades will show that the truck needs to be turning a lot more RPM's in lower gears to maintain speed. This is why I said it may tow OK but the experience may not be acceptable.
There is a "Towing" section in this Forum and you may be able to add knowledge by reading or asking questions in that section.
