Towing crv 2012

what if I install a battery disconnect (easy process just screw or unscrew green knob, use them on my MG collection) and wire the brake buddy directly to the motorhome? would this create a problem with the key on for unlocking the steering. Thanks.. This is related to an earlier post...

  • I'd like to share with you what we have done for 8-10 years and three motorhomes. We have a fuse switch in the CR-V that turns off fuse #32, in our case, to prevent battery drain while key is in acc position. We get power for the brake box (SMI) from the motorhome. Prior to this switch we experienced dead battery after 4-6 hours of towing. With switch installed ( no real modification to speak of) we have not experienced battery issues. Door locks and brake lights work with this setup. Hope this is helpful.
  • Even with the brake buddy powered from the motorhome, you won't have brake lights on the CRV with the battery disconnected. External magnetic brake lights also wired to the motorhome will take care of that. Other than that, ought to work just fine. Only thing is you'll have to reprogram all your radio buttons and reset the clock once you repower the car.

And I don't think you'll be able to lock or unlock the car doors - the locks are electric.
