First time poster...welcome to the forum where a question gets all kinds of answers. Some helpful and others ....clueless comes to mind.
Anywayz all trucks can tow a 5th wheel trailer as long as its within the trucks weight specs...so lets look at Fords '04 F150 V6 fleet service specs on your truck.
Can I tow a bigger camper if its a 5th-wheel?
Thanks!
Its a 2004 f150 4.6L super cab 4x4
GVWR 6950 LB
Front GAWR 3750 LB
Rear GAWR 3800 lb
The '04 Ford fleet specs shows your trucks 5th wheel tow rating;
3.55 gears at 6300 lbs
3.73 gears at 6800 lbs.
These numbers are what trailer weight Ford says your truck can pull.
Now lets look at some weight numbers on what your truck can carry.
Your F150 has a very small 3800 RAWR which will carry all the trailers hitch weight...a 200 lb hitch.... plus other stuff in the bed.
Your truck rear axle may weigh 2400-2500 lb leaving the truck with around 1300-1400 lbs in the bed.
look at 6300-6800 lb 5th wheel trailers with a 850-950 lb dry hitch weight.
Check out the three smaller 5th wheel trailers.
