- OFDPOSExplorerWe also have the 72 hr clause , a few blocks away a guy had his TT parked in the street . He actually ground out one of the expansion joints in the sidewalk and laid the wires in the crack.
The neighbors were scared of retaliation from the people (yes even the kids) so it stayed there for close to two years. Someone finally called and complained so he literally moved the TT up on his lawn right next to the sidewalk.
Apparently he finally had had enough harassment (neighbor told me) from the city the trailer is gone..
Huh he was being harassed by the code enforcement officer (think about that for a minute)
Like alot have posted , park two cars across the street from each other and now its a bottle neck ! Throw in an RV/TT
I can understand the "have to park behind a fence or front pane of your house".
Nothing like trying to back out of your driveway and your next door neighbor has a 10 foot tall wall (RV, TT parked in their own driveway but its right out to the sidewalk ) blocking your view to the street.. So your halfway out in the street before you can even see past the RV/TT !
Its actually really sad anymore ,its now the "its all about me attitude" anymore.. - rode2nowhereExplorerI agree with most posts, now I will see what the city comes up with, this a smaller town and from what I see the storage facilities here have no room for camper or rv storage.
- JiminDenverExplorer IIIt's 24 hrs on the street here and while it's a pain occasionally, I am glad when I see all off the people trying to bend the law. Some leave them there all summer and honestly, it's trashy.
The other thing is for $30 a month, I don't have to advertize that we are gone every time we go camping. - pitchExplorer IIIn my area of NY when you cross into a town there is always to my knowledge ,(to my knowledge) a sign post. This post will have a sign on it saying that Building Permits are required in the town of xxx. Also on this Post will be a sign informing that no solicitation is allowed with out a permit. Also on this post will be a sign stating that there will be no overnite parking on any road or highway in the town of xxx unless otherwise posted. Leash law will usually be denoted there also.
In my town the building permit sign seems to be the only one that counts - pappcamExplorerWe have a 48 or 72 hour limit in our city. During camping season when it's not actually at a campsite, I have mine in my driveway except for the day before a trip because my driveway is too sloped to use my fridge on. I pull it on the street the day before the trip to cool the fridge down so I can load it up and hook up and leave the next day.
When it's not camping season it's at the storage compound.
I would definitely not want a neighbour to keep their RV on the street all year. - DtankExplorer

I park my travel trailer on the street year round, our city it proposing an ordinance against it, what do other cities have out of curiousity?
You wonder why cities pass ordinances against it.
Parked on the street all year... Really???
Yikes!
The city would get my vote *in favor* of the proposed ordinance?..:S
OP - to accurately satisfy your "curiousity".....
Potentially as many variations as there are cities & towns in the USA...:W
However, good common sense =
Limited hours (like 48 or 72) on the street.
Extended storage *behind* the property set-back - side or back yard.
(*No* driveways)
Works for me - and my other neighbors with RVs..:C
. - Ron3rdExplorer IIIIn our town in So Cal, there is an ordinance against parking a rig on the street overnight. They don't enforce it unless somebody complains. A fellow down the street has a big toy hauler that he pulls out of storage and parks it in front of his house a few days to get ready for a trip. Even runs an extension cord from the trailer over the sidewalk to the house. They've never bothered him and I'm not going to turn in a fellow RVer. A buddy of mine that lives a couple miles away was told to move his 5er from the front of their house (getting ready for a trip) and the cop said somebody called and complained. Same city, 2 different results.
- mlts22ExplorerOne reason I'm buying a cabin well away from Austin is exactly this -- no zoning, no HOAs, plenty of forest between me and the neighbors, and a nice long path to gate so nothing is visible from the street. If Austin decides to ban motorhomes, I will just park my rig on the property.
- Executive45Explorer IIIFrom reading some of these posts, I think I recognize one of their neighbors. Here's a picture....:W....Dennis

If a town does nothing, pretty soon it's the cars on blocks with the wheels removed, the living room couch in the front yard, the chained pit bull, ec.
What, no refrigerator on the front porch?
