My insurance company is still on the hook for my loss which is whatever the before accident value of the rig was (around 8K) and the 2500 pittance I got on trade for the 35k rig I just bought.
No- your insurance company owes what it would cost to repair the trailer- if they were to total it, it would belong to them (obviously not possible now).
I've fixed a lot of blowout damage, and I've never come close to $ 2k, even when the blowout took out the LP system.
As far as what you owe the dealer- that is spelled out in the sales contract you signed. No opinions needed.
Right. Well actually my insurance guy told me even if it were still a repair situation the book trailer value minus the 2500 they gave me minus the 250 deductible there probably wouldn't be much left anyway.
There were no "promised/implied" demands to fix the trade in on the sales contract for the new rig or the BOS for the trade. It's probably a total and a salvage estimate minus deductible would no doubt be less that what the dealership already gave me so it's all really moot.
The repair estimate was 5900 and all but about a grand of that was labor. They're pretty proud of their work there I guess. As far as their warrantee work on the new rig....not so much.
I will post what all this turns out to be when it comes down.
