Trailer insurance question

We recently had an experience where a racoon ruined our trailer canopy, and our insurance carrier will only cover the replacement at a pro rated amount which is next to nothing.
I would like to get an insurance policy that covers items like the refrigerator, furnace, canopy, etc at full replacement value in case of an accident, (naturally not from wearing out).

Can any one recommend a carrier where you have had a positive experience, and roughly the annual cost for such a policy ?

  • Most insurance policies will take depreciation on items that are not meant to last forever, awning are one of those items. The do wear out from sun and weather exposure, and have a useful life period. Some companies "may" sell a policy that includes replacement cost coverage on those items but not most.
  • I think the biggest thing about awnings and insurance is to make sure u tell them u have a awning when u start your coverage...told to me by a rv dealer today.
  • I also found this to be the case with my former auto policy..... True of alot of them I found out...... I played hard ball with them so they offered a 3rd party adjuster who agreed with me fortunately I ended up with 80% as opposed to the 40% that they offered........
  • What kind of policy do you have? I have coverage through my auto insurance company. I may be susceptible to deductibles, but pro rating replacement sounds more like a homeowners policy.
