Transmission changes on the 2015 Honda CRV

The Honda CRV has been one of the most popular dingy. The 2014 and previous years had a 5-speed transmission. Being with the 2015 model, the Honda CRV will have a CVT transmission. I am no expert but I think this may rule out the 2015 Honda CRV as a tow vehicle. Any input?

  • If true and it does take the CR-V out of consideration for new dinghy, used market $$$$ will increase even more than it is now.I am amazed the auto makers do not take this into consideration, maybe the RV mkt isn't as big as one might think. As far as I know that only leaves GM , tow ready flat down???? Anyone know differently??
  • This was reported in another thread. I doubt that the RV market is that big when considering many other design concerns. Think mileage, cost, reputation, marketing, etc.

Every year the towing guides reflect the options and certainly is more than GM vehicles. And of course there is the modified market with REMCO just waiting for your call.
  • Sad news, glad we have a 13 CR-V. I believe the Fit also will use the CVT trans, but they also come standard with a 6 speed manual trans which may still work as a toad. The new HR-V will also just have the CVT trans. Dick
  • I just been doing some reading on the Internet and from what I see there it's only the Japanese CRV that's getting the CVT transmission. The information that I got was 2015 in North America still has a five speed transmission.
  • Our Ford Fusion Hybrid has a CVT and tows very well. It must be a different set-up?
